Stretching has always been controversial in the medical community sport, and that more than ever, with the wave of yoga.

First, why stretch?

1. To practice yoga. Stretching helps to relax and flow of vital energy.

2. For mobility.

But beware, depending on the type of physical activity, even the sports side, it should not be too relaxed certain joints. Thus, the rider obstacle has interest in developing its flexible legs to clear the obstacles. But it is too soft, his muscles lose power and slow.

The maintenance of freedom of movement is a consequence rather pleasant to the regular practice of yoga. But too much flexibility in older muscle may develop injuries of tendons, ligaments and joints.

Stretching should contribute to the overall balance of the person. Therefore it is worth asking the question on yoga.

What are the areas on which I should focus in order to balance the body as a whole?

In these areas, perhaps I would have more interest to focus more on strengthening postures that some flexibility?

It is important to find the balance between force and muscle length.
